Iowa City, Iowa (August 20, 2013)  The Risin’ Sun are a flashback to the 60’s garage psych that did not receive mainstream attention when America’s love affair with late 60’s-70’s rock influenced magnitudes of artists. The trio, all in their twenty’s are from Mexico City. They travel from show to show in a dual cab pick up and play small clubs like the Yacht Club to Chicago staples like the famed Double Door. Lance, a liquid light performance artist known as Mad Alchemycontacted me telling me I had to catch Risin’ Sun and be ready to be blown away. Lance added that The Risin’ Sun is as close to seeing a young Steve Marriot I would ever get. Mad Alchemy (Lance) is traveling with the band and provides that 60’s vibe visually in a manner only Lance can achieve. His art is an active member of the bands he works with providing pulsating beats via his colors that scream Moby Grape at the Fillmore.
